The Sarasota Compassionate Friends Chapter
The Sarasota Compassionate Friends Chapter wishes to extend to you an understanding hand in friendship. We are glad that you have found us but saddened for the reason that brings you searching.
We understand how overwhelming the feelings are that you are experiencing. We too have been there. While it is not easy to take that first step and face the reality of what has happened, it is the only way to begin to heal. It is a very difficult journey but one that we have found is made easier by having the support of others who truly understand.

SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGSOur monthly support group meetings are the heart of The Compassionate Friends. Each meeting provides a caring environment in which bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings are allowed to talk freely about the emotions and experiences they are going through and receive the understanding support of others who have “been there.” (No one is required to speak). We have learned through our own experiences that the death of a child or grandchild causes emotions which are often best understood by others who themselves have lost a child, grandchild or sibling.
